electricity

Jacob’s Ladder

An explanation would kind of ruin it. (If you really need more, it’s called Jacob’s Ladder)

Just stare at that video and note that it caught the attention of Guy Kawasaki and the twitterverse. There is a reason that electricity scared and titillated the masses for decades. We know how this all works and it’s still crazy. Imagine being alive in 1890 and you see this invisible and powerful force. One minute there’s nothing visible to your eyes. The next, there’s a pale fire.

I’m reminded of the incredible SF Moma exhibit onĀ  Early Scientific Photography and the Invisible. Among other things, it documented the ways that this terrifying force had to made mundane so that people would consent to letting electricity into their homes.

That sounds kind of silly until you watch something like this.
