France uses more nuclear power in their energy mix than any other country. That warms the heart of any old nuke, but their electricity prices are higher than just about any region of the United States and far above our average.

This is one reason why the public doesn't trust nuclear power plant safety. A major part of the fire precautions at a major nuclear power plant are three human noses, mounted on workers who walk 12 miles a day sniffing for smoke. That's not the way to inspire confidence that nuclear power plants are different from other aging pieces of infrastructure.
