TheYellowDailyNews » Judge Kozinski Resigns to Focus on Porn Biz
Kravets, Wired.com’s crusty court reporter, has a gem of a “news” story up on his website, The Yellow Daily News, satirizing this case. Excerpt:
Kozinski, in an exclusive interview with TYDN late Sunday, said his new business venture, to be named ProBono.com, will offer a hodge-podge of [...]

LED lanterns could replace traditional wood and dung fires for illumination purposes. D.Light is trying to get those lanterns into the developing world, and their first product is coming to market. Perhaps people will stop dying as a result of needing light during the night: Starting as early as July, D.Light will start selling its first solar-charging LED light called the Nova for around $12 to $25 (pictured to the left). One hour of solar charge can provide one hour of LED light on the medium setting. There are four settings: low, medium and high — and the ultra-low “nightlight.” Via Earth2Tech.

Evidence of Time Spent: The Best Father’s Day Present

Evidence of Time Spent: The Best Father’s Day PresentI spent last weekend with my dad in Manhattan. The man loves to make pictures and dragged his fancy camera everywhere we went. It’s a good thing, too, because now we have a photographic record of our time in the city, which was fantastic. A father and [...]

Today in Supervillainry: Joss Whedon’s Doctor Horrible Sing Along BlogWith the economy like it is, even supervillains are having a hard time finding work. When I’m not at work, I’d say 75 percent of the time I spend looking at screen is devoted to the little guy, my P.O.S. LG Fusic. Somehow, I’ve let it become my primary gmail client, RSS reader, and AP news feed. It’s like a tricked out Honda CRX at this point with a racing [...]

The Tombstones of Dead Virtual Worlds

An incredible series of tweets between Sean Bonner and Boing Boing’s Xeni Jardin about the Great Friendster Diaspora got me thinking about the death of virtual worlds, in particular the bulletin board systems that made my isolated youth in Ridgefield, Washington, way out next to the cows at the end of a gravel road where [...]

Newstorrent Makes Safire’s On Language Column

My pet phrase for describing the new state of (online) journalism, newstorrent, caught a couple of lucky breaks and made it’s way to William Safire’s On Language column. Behold, my finest Safirese combined with Safire’s finest Safirese:
Remember the term for cable TV’s round-the-clock coverage? “ ‘News cycle’ strikes me as outdated,” says Alexis Madrigal, a [...]
